Electrics
At present, there are no electrics in the car, so we are starting with a blank piece of paper and that can be either good or bad.
Electrics isn't my strongest suit, so I will be leaving this to those who know what they are doing; DC Electonics in Maldon, Essex. They are not cheap but they are very good.
I have, however, decided on the battery. Less than 1Kg of Lithium goodness, 6kg lighter than an equivalent RedTop.
To augment this saving, I made a battery holder and spent a little time adding lightness.
If you have read about the dash design you will know that the battery is going in the glove box. This means that the battery lead can be kept short and therefore light. I have also gone for an aluminium lead, so even lighter. Interesting leads these. Although aluminium is lighter than copper, it doesn't carry current so well. However, electricity travels along the outside of a wire, not though its core, one reason why wires are multicore as this supplies more surface area for the electrons to travel along. The wires in my aluminium lead have been coated with copper so th ecurrentflows along the thin copper coating which is supported by the much lighter aluminium.
